Nearly a month has passed since Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred officially launched on April 28, 2026.Ranging from the fresh hub in Temis to the two newly introduced classes – Paladin and Warlock – alongside the fully reworked endgame framework called War Plans, the expansion marks a substantial evolution for the game.
In this new expansion, War Plans provides independent Activity Skill Trees for each type of endgame activity (such as Nightmare Dungeons, Pit, Helltides, etc.). This system is widely regarded by players as the best gear farming system in Diablo 4 to date.
However, what truly redefines the entire loot-farming concept is Corrupted Roots stacked with Nightmare Dungeons farming loop, developed from a seemingly obscure combination mechanism. Players acquire legendary gear, amulets, marks, Forgotten Souls, Veiled Crystals, and more by farming in Nightmare Dungeons.
The entire cycle can be roughly divided into three stages:
- Preparation
- Entering Dungeons
- Expanding and Stacking
As a professional game information website, IGGM has always focused on Diablo 4. Therefore, we will now provide a detailed introduction to these three stages.
I. Preparation
1. Obtaining Corrupted Roots
Corrupted Roots Dungeons farming cycle, as the name suggests, requires you to accumulate enough Diablo 4 Corrupted Roots before starting this farming mechanism, as each shrine requires at least 3-5 Corrupted Roots as a starting cost.
So how do you obtain Corrupted Roots?
The core source of Corrupted Roots is a Tree of Whispers Caches. The left side of Tree of Whispers has a dedicated area for exchanging Caches containing Corrupted Roots.
It’s important to note that before activating Caches, you must ensure you’ve already activated Tree of Plenty node in War Plans. This node grants you four Whisper Caches upon submitting a Whisper quest, effectively quadrupling your draw chances and significantly increasing your probability of obtaining Corrupted Roots.
Secondly, you can also select Grim Retribution node on the right-hand route in War Plans. This gives you a chance to trigger Whisper Ambush after completing a Whisper quest. These ambushes spawn a wave of enemies with powerful affixes, and their dropped Caches have a chance to include Corrupted Roots.
However, both methods result in random acquisition with extremely low probabilities, and are time-consuming and laborious. Therefore, you can also trade Corrupted Roots using gold in Diablo 4 in-game marketplace. Currently, a single Corrupted Root is being traded for as much as 900 million gold.
If you don’t have enough gold, you can buy Diablo 4 gold from IGGM.com. This site offers 1%-5% off on orders starting from 5,000M.

Corrupted Roots are a consumable Diablo 4 item used in many events and gameplay elements, so acquiring them early is definitely a win-win situation.
2. War Plans Nodes
After acquiring enough Corrupted Roots, there’s a prerequisite: you need to activate four key nodes in War Plans talent points before starting.
These four nodes speed up your Dungeons farming, increase the amount of loot at the end of Dungeons, and most importantly, create a farming loop – the core of this Dungeons farming strategy.
- Waking Spoils: Increases the amount of loot at the end of Dungeons;
- Gauntlet: During the temple buff, each enemy killed imprisons their soul within you; after the buff ends, all imprisoned souls respawn as complete enemies.
- Nemesis: Activating the temple summons up to 7 additional elite enemies, each of which drops three Conviction Orbs upon death.
- Fearless Conviction: Defeating elites grants Conviction stacks, while being defeated reduces them. Conviction Cache provides substantial rewards based on a high number of Conviction stacks.
Fearless Conviction is a core element of Diablo 4 Dungeons gameplay. Not only does it grant one Conviction stack for each elite or champion monster defeated, but each stack is converted into higher quality and greater quantity rewards in the final Conviction Cache.
Furthermore, upon reaching 50 Conviction stacks, Conviction Cache has a prime chance of dropping rare materials such as Attuned Primordial Dust. Above 100 stacks, Conviction Cache can directly produce multiple pieces of equipment with Greater Affixes.
3. Shrines Affix
To ensure more monsters spawn when you start farming in Dungeons, IGGM recommends bringing a Nightmare Dungeon Sigil with specific affixes, such as Lethal Shrines, Artillery Shrines, and Blast Wave Shrines.
These affixes will guarantee that multiple Shrines spawn in Diablo 4 Dungeons, which will then spawn new monsters, allowing you to gain more Diablo 4 loot and experience.
II. Entering Dungeons
After completing the preparations, you can officially enter Dungeons. This process follows a scouting + backtracking cycle:
Clear the map without using Shrines: Quickly clear all monsters in the entire Dungeons, find and remember the location of each Shrine, but never touch or activate them.
Rewind: Return to the location of the first Shrine and plant a Corrupted Root. Each Corrupted Root has an independent 30-second cooldown. This cooldown resets after teleporting out of Dungeons, allowing you to plant 3-5 Corrupted Roots around the same Shrine.
The detailed mechanism is as follows: After planting Corrupted Roots, the loop can begin. Enter Dungeons and activate three Corrupted Roots, which will immediately summon Ambush Enemies, including Headrotten Boss that drops Whisper Caches.
Immediately afterward, touch the first Shrine you prepared to gain Shrine Buff. Kill all summoned monsters during the buff’s duration.
IGGM reminds you to pay close attention to the buff’s duration. A few seconds before the first Shrine’s buff expires, stand next to the second Shrine to gain the second buff while simultaneously killing the monsters that spawn after the first Shrine’s buff ends.
Repeat this process until all three Shrines are used. When the last Shrine’s buff ends, you’ll gain Conviction Stacks; the more stacks, the greater the rewards.
After the loop ends, you can stack them to at least 150-300 or even higher, with rewards including high-level rare loot such as Diablo 4 Mythic Uniques, Greater Affix Items, and Mythic Runes.
III. Extended Stacking
If you’re still not satisfied with the rewards from Dungeons loop, here’s another method that can be combined with Dungeons: Escalation Sigils. The rewards will continue to stack on top of Dungeons rewards.
In Horadric Cube, 5 Nightmare Sigils can be combined to create 1 Escalating Sigil, which works uniquely:
- Three Nightmare Dungeons are chained together into a single instance and completed sequentially;
- All affix effects from the previous Dungeon are passed on to the next, culminating in a final battle against Exalted Astaroth;
- Throughout the chain, Corrupted Roots and Conviction mechanics remain fully active in each individual Dungeon.
If you complete a full three-Shrines cycle in each of the three Nightmare Dungeons, you can simultaneously enjoy triple the character kill resource rewards and the tiered boss rewards against Astaroth.
Furthermore, the recent Diablo 4 Patch 3.0.2 update not only didn’t affect the normal monster respawn mechanics but actually made the continuous Dungeon challenge gameplay more convenient, which is definitely good news for players who want to use this method to obtain large rewards.
Overall, now is definitely the best time to use Dungeons loop farming strategy. Hopefully, this guide from IGGM will help you quickly get into the loot-hunting rhythm of Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred and return from Sanctuary with plenty of loot.
